CAMTASIA 2021 – Amazing New Editing & Motion Graphics Features Overview and Review
Camtasia 2021 is out now, and it has a lot of improvements in the editing and motion graphics department. In this video, I showcase some of the new great features and my take on them, with some tips. I hope you’ll enjoy it 🙂

Camtasia 2021 editing – a major step up
Today I have the pleasure of talking about the new Camtasia 2021.
And believe me, it’s a real pleasure. In my opinion, Camtasia 2020 and 2021 are both major steps in the right direction.
Both upgrades have brought many excellent new features to Camtasia. In 2021 specifically, editing and animation clearly have been in focus, and that’s what we’re talking about in this video.
Great new features, and a few not-so-great
There are 25 or so new features that come with Camtasia 2021, and you can see many of them covered in the video above. But I also wanted to mention which of the new features I find really useful as well as some that I could have skipped.
Motion Blur – A must for making motion graphics. Finally included in Camtasia, and super easy to use. This is a great addition. To use it, just drag the new Motion Blur effect from the Visual Effects tab onto any layer with movement. Keep it at 100% intensity usually gives a great result.
New Transitions – Frankly the transitions we had in Camtasia prior to 2021, wasn’t very modern or up to snuff. But with the new version, more than 75 transitions have been added.
And many of them have a modern, sleek and useful look. Take a look at the Blurs category, for many trendy ones. Here’s one of my new favorites, Horizontal stretch 2.
There are some I would still avoid, stay away from “puzzle” for example unless it really suits your purpose. But variety is seldom a bad thing.
Quick Properties are now editable! This is a huge one for me personally. If you are reusing any assets or share them within an organization, this is a big step up. Going forward we will use this a lot when creating templates for Callouts, which will make them much more user friendly for our members.
I’m also a huge fan of Custom Colors, Media Matte Effect, and Corner Rounding. All three have been implemented in a great way. Very easy and quick to use.
There are also a few new features that I could live without, such as the Resize Track Header. I do believe the New Recorder will shape up, but I just wish they shipped the new version with an easy way to start up the 2020 recorder.
And two new features that after using Camtasia 2021 for a couple of weeks, and the beta before that, I’m not a big fan of. The Targeted Zooming is very confusing, and even though I understand it, it still feels unintuitive and the canvas has a way of jumping around in mysterious ways.
And the second is Standalone Projects. This will be great for some users, but I try to work with file organization before my project start and this messed up my projects quite a bit, creating duplicates, and “triplicates” of my files, making the process very confusing. I deleted some files, only to find out that the fourth copy of the same file was the one in use by Camtasia. This also happened after I turned off the Save as Standalone Project box, and restarted Camtasia, and then the computer. I suspect there is some kind of bug is crawling around here.
Summary
The upside of Camtasia 2021 clearly outweighs the few cons. All-in-all it’s a great new version that I wholeheartedly can recommend. The new version is chock filled with new features, and I couldn’t ask for more, for now at least 🙂
